Directing work

As a Director Chase has been mentored and taught by Thom Allison through the Royal MTC National Mentorship Program, which led to him assistant directing under Thom on the Betty Mitchel Award winning production of Million Dollar Quartet at Theatre Calgary. He’s also been mentored by Mark Bellamy through the inaugural Canadian Guild of Stage Directors and Choreographers mentorship program. Both of those mentorships prepared him for his directorial debut with the Canadian Premier of The Prom with Dry Cold Productions in 2023, followed by the sold out, hilarious two hander Murder for Two with the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre (which also went on a regional tour!). This coming fall he'll be assistant directing Kelly Thornton on Murder on the Orient Express at the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton, as well as directing the world premiere of Lawrence Aronovitch's play Dancing with the Past with the Gargoyle Theatre and Day of Pink, which will tour schools all across Canada teaching students about the 1970 Montreal Olympic Raids. Come Spring 2027, Chase will direct the Canadian premiere of Nimrod Danishmans play Bordr (Borders), with Winnipeg Jewish Theatre.

As a director Chase is very much drawn to comedies that tug at your heart strings, stories of the LGBTQ+ community, shows with an underdog lead and stories of fully fledged female characters; of all ages and sizes.
